We operate across sports, across Nottinghamshire and across church denominations to achieve two main aims:
- Sport-loving Christians to live out their faith through their involvement in sport. If you’re a regular player, official, coach or supporter then check out our Sports Players page
- Local churches to see sport as an accessible way of widening and enhancing their outreach. If you’re passionate about seeing your community reached with the Good News of Jesus then visit our Church Outreach page.
This website is also where you can find out what sporty events we are running, access a load of great resources and get in touch with us to see how we can serve you and your church in its community outreach. If you're still investigating the Christian faith then check out our Just Looking page.
What does the Bible say about sport?
Who's behind the Ministry of Sport?
The Ministry of Sport is a Church of England initiative. However, churches of all denominations are part of the network of sporty people and passionate community evangelists that makes the Ministry of Sport effective. To join our network and find out more, complete the enquiry form to the right of this screen.
What can the Ministry of Sport do?
The Ministry of Sport can support you, either as an individual or a church, by supplementing local church programmes with sports-specific opportunities to equip, pray, invite and network. Please submit the enquiry form to get involved and to be kept up-to-date with events.
Opportunities to help individuals and churches combine sport and faith through mentoring and equipping events.
At Pray for Sport, we'll commit to praying for you, your sports-colleagues, your clubs and upcoming events. It would be great to see you at one or two a year. Failing that, you can always email your prayer requests.
High quality events designed with your teammates and sports colleagues in mind. This usually includes sport or sports culture, food, and an insight into the Christian message Examples of this are our sports quiz, footy tournament or golf day. These all represent a great way for sports-lovers to explore something of the claims of Jesus Christ or to hear a testimony of a sporty Christian.
We believe God places us in sport for a purpose, to seek His Kingdom and speak of His transforming love in word and deed. We want to be an encouragement to each other as we seek to be salt and light to those we play with, officiate or coach. If you feel like you're the only Christian in your sport then get in touch to be connected with others with similar passions.
