Ministry of Sport operates across sports, across Nottinghamshire & across church denominations to encourage:
- Churches to engage with sports culture, e.g. 2014 Commonwealth Games, Football World Cup;
- Christians to live & speak out their faith through sports;
- Quality events for sporty people to explore the claims of Jesus Christ.
In this way, the Church of England hopes to see a positive & transforming impact within the lives & culture of sport.
The fantastic summer of the 2012 Olympics & Paralympics heightened the importance of this, as euphoria for sport peaked in our nation. Over the next 10 years, the UK will also be hosting many other major sporting events, including the Rugby World Cup & Cricket World Cup (see full list).
